Why you should care that healthcare just became America’s biggest industry

Share

According to The Atlantic, healthcare just became the largest source of US jobs, surpassing retail and manufacturing for the first time ever.

Citing a Bureau of Labor Statistics report, The Atlantic reports that this is the first time in history that healthcare has taken the number one spot.

This is a good news/bad news kind of report. The good news, for healthcare professionals, is that there’s more work. The bad news is that this shift is due to a combination of the aging population and rising costs of healthcare.

But let’s focus on the good news… for you. Many facilities across the US are having a hard time keeping up with the demand, and the need for skilled, temporary practitioners is bigger today than it has ever been. More need, more jobs, higher pay, better benefits.

The report states that five of the top ten fastest growing jobs in the next eight years will be in healthcare. And of the top 15 fastest growing jobs, we staff five. That’s one-third of the top jobs in the US:

  1. Physician assistants
  2. Nurse practitioners
  3. Physical therapist assistants
  4. Medical assistants
  5. Occupational therapy assistants

So, if you’ve been waiting to see if this is for you, the time has never been better. Let’s get that epic journey going! The first step (which is the hardest) is to get in touch with us. We’ll take care of you. Promise!
