Find the Right Housing Option for Your Next Travel Assignment

Share

Along with having a job that lets you move around the country and see the sights, being a travel healthcare professional also means you can live in housing that suits your taste.

That’s why it’s often more advantageous for healthcare travelers to take a per diem or housing stipend to ensure you find the exact type of housing you want. Not only can you possibly save some cash, but you can search for some interesting locations and housing to make your 12-week stay that much more enjoyable. After all, there are literally thousands of housing options to choose from.

So here are five of the most popular housing websites for traveling healthcare workers:

Airbnb

No surprise, right? Airbnb is all about ensuring a safe and stress-free housing arrangement. They make sure that all of their hosts are verified, lodgings are clean, and all messaging takes place within the site in order to protect user and host safety. Simply put in the specific parameters on the website according to what you’re looking for. For example, if you just received an assignment in Dallas for three months, start your search there. Next, choose what type of accommodation you want. If you want a single room and bathroom, an entire apartment, or an entire house, just specify it. It’s about as simple as that.

Apartments.com

If you’re looking for – you guessed it – an apartment, apartments.com is just the ticket! You can filter by budget, bedrooms, housing types, lifestyle, and amenities. They market themselves as an apartment website, but also offer townhouses and condos as housing options. The site doesn’t support roommate listings or co-living, but visitors to the site can find thousands of available listings that are very easy to access.

VBRO

VBRO is a trusted housing site for travel healthcare pros. They offer short and long-term home, apartment, or condo options. They’re committed to user safety and comfort and protect your payment against fraud with a “dedicated care team” to answer all of your questions. To use VBRO, just put in the destination, your arrival, and departure, and how many will be staying. There are several other search filters that make it easy to find the perfect accommodation for you. They even have an option for travelers with pets!

FurnishedFinder.com

Furnished Finder is a website dedicated almost exclusively to travel nurses. The site allows you to indicate where you’re going and your maximum monthly budget for rent. It then populates available temporary housing (including hotels) that meet your criteria. For example, they have access to furnished single-family homes, condos, apartments, rooms, cottages and more – and can connect travelers directly to the property owner. All without charging booking fees.

Tripping.com

This site is unique in that it compares different listings from different housing sites. You can put in your dates and location (they now offer flexible travel dates) and the site pulls potential rates from different housing sites. Think of tripping.com as a kind of priceline.com, but for temporary housing! They compare rates from sites such as Airbnb, VBRO, etc., and once you find a listing you like, simply book it directly through tripping.com.
